Super Bowl 2020

I created this photo illustration as a personal project for my instagram account. I wanted to experiment creating texture through photoshop brushes.

Al Davis

Social media illustration created to celebrate of the life of the NFL’s original anti-hero owner Al Davis.

Packers Drama

Dak Return

I was inspired to create this social media infographic after watching Dak Prescott open the 2021 season with a flawless game. Though the Cowboy’s loss the big story in my mind was how Dak had come back from the injury he suffered almost a year before.

Andy Reid

Photo illustration for social media created to celebrate the career of one of my favorite NFL head coaches, Andy Reid.

NEvsSEA

Experimenting with my take of a match-up social media graphic for a game between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks.

Todd Gurley

Photo illustration for the career of Todd Gurley. It was interesting to me how much of a dominant, but short, career he had.

Reds 2020

Social media photo illustration celebrating the Red’s finally getting back to the playoffs after a long drought.

Super Bowl 50 Cover

The Super Bowl is one of the few events in the sports design calendar that I get to prepare for two weeks in advance, which is why it is one of my favorite events of the year.

College Preview

Working for the Arizona Republic means that I cover every sports team in the state. This means that I often have to find a balance designing for two rival colleges Arizona State and the University of Arizona. For this design I was able to create a cohesive design style that fans of either teams could enjoy.

Cardinals 2021 Wild Card Preview

The 2021 Cardinals came out of the gate with some serious firepower. However due to injuries and just plain bad luck the second half of the season did not pack as much oomph. Though they still locked into their first playoff appearance in 7 years. My task was to create an engaging design for the preview of the their ultimate loss to the Super Bowl winning Rams.

Kobe's Retirement

When Kobe Bryant retired, it was difficult to believe it was finally happening. This design commemorates his time with the Lakers.

Waste Management Open 2019

This is a special section cover celebrating Phoenix’s favorite golfer, Phil Mickelson, for Phoenix’s favorite sporting event, the Waste Management Open.

Palm Springs Prep Preview

Every year The Desert Sun in Palm Springs California creates a special section celebrating the top 11 high school football stars. This is a fun project to work on for me because it gives me a chance to connect with the community and the players get the same professional design treatment as the stars they look up to.

Desert Classic Golf Tournament 2019

For a story about a golfer who had been winning all over the globe all I could think about while brainstorming was the old Indiana Jones travel montage scenes. This design ran in both Palm Springs and Phoenix which is where Jon Rahm went to college.

Defying His Age

Often times visual storytelling involves learning about topics that I previously had little knowledge of. This project about the tennis greats and where Roger Federer falls among them was no exception.

The Next Big Thing

This was a daily sports page preceding the NBA draft in which the Suns had the number one pick.
